I’ve been looking at various WordPress plugins for a website I’ve been building, but also with a view to using some of them here, on my own blog. During my travels, I also discovered the tremendously useful Blogging Pro page about Wordpress plugins too.
I found two plugins that I immediately liked and installed—both here and on the other site I’m developing too.
- Favatars which enables the use of Favicons on posted comments
- Bad Behaviour which is designed to prevent spambots from leaving comments
…and also, for this other site I’ve been working on, I am making use of a handy plugin called Customizable Post Listings.

Harrogate Theatre are holding their annual Music Party this weekend: Saturday 19th March, 12 noon–12 midnight. A live music spectacular, with about 40 bands playing in total throughout the day. Scapegoat Kelly play the main stage at 8pm. An all-day ticket to the event costs £10 (£7.50 concessions). At the end of the night there’s an after-party in Bar Med’s Late Lounge.
Next weekend Scapegoat Kelly will be playing at Harrogate’s Rat & Parrot—Easter Sunday, 27th March from 9pm. Entry is free.

(Flyer/poster design by me and Nelly)
Bar Med’s Late Lounge is possibly one of Harrogate’s best kept secrets, with live funk/jazz/blues every Saturday night at midnight. Scapegoat Kelly play here again on Saturday 9th April. Free entry before 11pm, £5 before midnight, £6 after midnight.

Making a statement in a public place, graffiti can be thought provoking and funny; Pictures of Walls is a gallery of walls with stuff written on.

Yesterday night at the Blues Bar, we had the first (and probably the only) public showing of the DVD of “the Wizard of Bloz”—a farcical amateur pantomime production put together for fun and in haste, that ran for one night only, just before Christmas… with all proceeds going to charity.
A giant cardboard cheque for £2000 was presented to a representative from Harrogate Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit last week, and the photo should be in the local paper later this week.
The ‘official’ Bloz photos (professionally shot by Andrew Sandiford) are available for purchase in photographic print format (with proceeds going to charity), and, for your viewing pleasure, there are also some other photos capturing the event beautifully too. With wonders never ceasing to amaze: we’ve even had a review!
Copies of the movie will soon be available for purchase on DVD-style shiny disc, to be taken home and treasured forever.

Bah! I set myself up a weblog and rush in to get myself a ‘first post’ as fast as I can… only to find I’m beaten by an autogenerated ‘Hello world!’ message.
It’s like some kind of bad in-joke that can (maybe) only be understood by programmers who read slashdot… oh, the irony! (/me ducks and runs)
